# The n8n node

Start an n8n workflow the moment a creator replies, and act on prospects from any workflow.

`n8n-nodes-recruitaffiliates` is a community node for n8n. It has one action node and one trigger node.

**Status:** built and tested, not published yet. Until it is, the [n8n recipe](/recipes/n8n) does the same job with n8n's HTTP Request node.

## What you need

- A Grow plan, which includes the API and webhooks.
- An API key from **Settings**, in the API tab. Start with a **test key**.
- In n8n, open its settings, find the community nodes page, and install `n8n-nodes-recruitaffiliates`.

## Connect

Make a credential called "RecruitAffiliates.ai API" and paste your key. n8n tests it for you.

## The trigger node

Pick one **Event**. When you activate the workflow, the node adds a webhook in RecruitAffiliates.ai for it. When you deactivate, it removes it.

- Interested replies only, and a "to stage" filter, are built in.
- A prospect event adds the prospect's name, link, email (if found), stage and owner. A note event adds the note text.
- The node checks our signature, so a fake post never starts your workflow.

## The action node

- **Prospect:** save, move stage, add a note, add to a list, get, update.
- **Search:** start. It uses one search credit, and a retry never costs a second one.

## Test without touching real work

A test key sends **test events** (`livemode` is `false`) when it saves, hides, moves or notes a sample prospect. Only a test webhook hears them, and the output keeps `livemode` so you can filter on it. See [test mode](/webhooks#test-mode).
